Goose and Gander

You can call them the Democrat Party but they're not going to like it.   They prefer to be referred to as the "Democratic Party."   That's the party in favor of Democracy, isn't it?

They are fond of claiming that "Al Gore won the vote but lost the election," the notion being that the will of the people was ignored by our arcane system for electing the Pres.   They are fond of criticizing the electroal college, especially when it doesn't precisely mirror the popular vote.

They scream "disenfranchisement" whenever people have to stand in line to pull the lever.   They'll never tolerate any sort of voter ID card with a picture on it even if the state pays for the thing because that somehow disenfranchises minorities.   They'd like convicted felons to be able to vote.   They believe illegal immigrants should be able to vote too.

They stand for Democracy, absolute Democracy.   Let the people decide!

I totally agree.   Let the people decide who they want to be the next president.   Let's start by tallying the popular vote in the primaries.   Including Pennsylvania, Hillary has something like a 500,000 vote popular vote lead, excluding caucuses because these do not involve registered voters walking behind a curtain and voting anonymously.   Yet she is behind in delegates and unlikely to win her party's nomination.

The delegate count includes "superdelegates" who are not compelled to speak the voice of the people.   Rather, they can vote for Peter Pan, if they choose.   The other delegates are divied up according to congressional districts - not in accordance with the popular vote in any given state or the country at large.

Now how's that for Democracy?

I guess I'll just continue to call them the "Democrat party" or "liberals."
