Heated Discussion

by Dave
7/26/2007 09:15:00 AM

What's the hottest story in the news?   The AP reports: "Nevada has big temperature gains."

The AP story includes several scary comments like:
  • "Nevada is among the states with the most dramatic increase in average temperatures the last 30 years, according to a new study that examines the impact of global warming across the country."
  • "7 degrees above the 30-year average"
  • "'The scientific evidence of global warming is incontrovertible, and Nevada is feeling the heat more intensely than most of the rest of the U.S.'"
  • "'Only a tiny bit of this increase in temperature can be attributed to increased urbanization the so-called urban heat-island effect. &nbsdp; Global warming is here, and we better get serious about confronting it.'"
  • "'Unless our elected officials act now to curb global warming pollution, Nevada will see more severe heat waves that increase the risk for wildfires, drought, and heat-related illnesses.'"

You know, the information is accurate.   Temperatures have been going up over the past 30 years in Nevada.   If they continhue to go up at this rate, they may eventually reach the levels they were during the 1940s and 50s!

Don't believe it?   Check the official NOAA record for Las Vegas.

Thanks greenies for making it so easy to shoot down your trash talking!

Tour de Dope

by Steve
7/25/2007 03:27:00 PM

The latest news in the Tour de France drug saga, is that the current overall leader in the 2007 race, Michael Rasmussen, has been kicked out of the race.

Apparently, he missed a couple of drug tests.

As far as I see it, this only legitimizes last year's Tour de France winner, Floyd Landis. Landis, of course, was shamed by the Tour de France officials, claiming that he must have taken dope to boost his performance, because it's just not humanly possible for Americans to win 8 straight races. Landis denied, claimed the tests were faulty.

I think neiher Rasmussen nor Landis were under the infuence of performance enhancing drugs, at least nothing over and above what another Joe citizen would buy over the counter to cure a headache or clear up a runny nose.

Steroid or no steroids, someone has to win the Tour de France. Just because someone wins a Tour de France, doesn't mean he must have been on dope. Somehow, the race officials can't seem to consider a winner to be innocent.

Officials need to conquer their paranoia abuse, before they can legitimately identify steroid abuse.

Sacred Bulls are a Bunch of Bull

by Steve
7/23/2007 11:27:00 PM

An interesting piece of news out of the UK says that the Welsh government has ordered a "sacred bull" owned by a group of Hindus to be put to death.

http://news.yahoo.com/..../oukoe_uk_britain_shambo

Shambo the bull apparently is stricken with bovine tuberculosis, and is now considered a public health threat. The Hindu group, as you can imagine, is pissed off. Cows and bulls are like Gods to these folks. They worship these animals.

Of course, Brahma, the biggest sacred bull of them all, who lives up in the Hindu Heavens, should have protected Shambo from even contracting the disease. But then again, I'm not an expert on Hinduism.

What's particularly stupid about all this, is that the owners of Shambo, who are devout Hindus, and who are acting like they are being forced against their will, don't seem to want to do anything to help Shambo. That is, why not pool their money to get this bull treated? Why not pool their money and move to Shambo to some place far from human contact? I mean, they're supposed to love Shambo right?

Here's a tell tale quote from the news report...
"The law needs to be broad enough and should include viable alternatives such as isolation and treatment to achieve their purpose so that they don't cut across people's ethics, religion or conscience. We don't cull infected humans, we treat them."
In other words, the Hindus want the government to protect their religion. This isn't about Shambo, this is about public endorsement and protection of their faith.

What Happened to the Rain?

by Steve
7/19/2007 09:14:00 AM

This year, thus far, has been one of the driest years on record.

Here in my neck of the woods, we haven't seen so little rainfall in over a hundred years. Riverside County, to be more exact, only had 1.93 inches of rain in all of 2006. It hasn't been that dry since 1883.

So, where's all the rain that Al Gore promised us?

The warming of oceans is supposed to produce an abundance of rain. It's supposed to turn the south west, which is naturally a desert region, into a topical zone similar to the Amazon.

The lack of rain is caused by a cooling of the oceans.

Come on Al! All of SoCal is counting you.

Communism is Key to Understanding

by Steve
7/18/2007 08:57:00 AM

LiveScience published a strange article today, claiming that the reason why Americans have trouble understanding other cultures is because of our free society, and then went on to compare us with the Chinese by saying that they're the best at understanding the alternative viewpoints...
Rugged American individualism could hinder our ability to understand other peoples' point of view, a new study suggests.

And in contrast, the researchers found that Chinese are more skilled at understanding other people's perspectives, possibly because they live in a more "collectivist" society.
Some researchers used a crude experiment with 20 Americans and 20 Chinese to gauge their thinking, and concluded that the differences must be none other than political and social.

Hey. I'm an American by birth, I have no trouble understanding that the world is full of different paradigms, and I have no problem understanding many of these paradigms. I'm quite familiar with the Chinese/Asian way of thinking, and you know what? It stinks.

China has slowly become more of an free society over the decades, even more so now that they're experiencing personal wealth, and now citizens can own private property. In fact, now they can own Harley-Davidson motorcycles, and enjoy all the latest fads that we Americans create. China is becoming more like the United States than ever before.

If LiveScience argues that Communism is the key towards understanding alternative points of view, then its interesting the Chinese are discovering that the American way of life is the best way of life.

Species Threatened By Global Warming ... Alarmists

by Dave
7/17/2007 07:07:00 PM

A species on the brink of being over fished is being threatened by global warming ... alarmists.   In fact, the numero uno global warming alarmist, Algore, is what is threatening this particular species.   The species in question is Chilean sea bass.   It is delicious - I used to eat it regularly as sushi.   But I was told many years ago that you can't get Chilean sea bass anymore.   A sushi chef told me you can get it but it is a stressed species which may one day disappear so I ought to refrain from eating it.   I was under the impression that absolutely everybody who likes fish knows this.   Every fellow fish eater I know does.   But Gore's lavish lifestyle doesn't permit alternatives, especially when his daughter's wedding is involved!   He serves the real deal.   Hey, the species is not on anyone's endangered species list or anything.   It's just threatened by illegal fishing.   Trouble is the greenies don;t exactly see it that way.

Really Silly Science

by Dave
7/13/2007 07:18:00 AM

If you suspected your child had a fever, would you ask him or her to run 5 miles before checking their temperature?   Of course not.   You're not THAT stupid!   You'd do what people have done for a century.   You'd have your kid sit quiet for five minutes and then break out the thermometer and take a measurement.   That's only reasonable.   Yet the greatest minds in this country are measuring the planet's temperature in some of the most ridiculous ways imaginable.   Check out SurfaceStations.org to see some analysis of the climate measuring stations which are behind at least some of the faulty measurements going into the climate record.

What you'll find on the site is some gauges located next to asphalt and heavy traffic.   If you've got a thermometer on your car, it doesn't take a genius to recognize that within a single square mile, you can get temperature measurements which vary by as much as ten degrees depending upon whether your car has been running, how long it has been running, whether you are parked in the shade on a grassy area, in an open (to the sun) parking lot, or you are stuck in a traffic jam on an open 6 lane roadway.   At my home, the temperature 5 feet from the ground varies by almost ten degrees depending on whether I'm on the side in the sun or the one under shade.

Mexicans Dead Because of US Border Security

by Steve
7/12/2007 04:13:00 PM

Reuters reports today that 275 Mexicans have died trying to cross into the United States, and that these deaths were caused by US efforts to tighten up border security...
Tougher security along the U.S.-Mexico border is forcing migrants to take more dangerous, remote routes to cross into the United States and pushing up the number of deaths in the desert.

This year could see a record of well over 500 such deaths. At least 275 Mexican bodies have been found in the first six months, according to a Mexican Congressional report backed by U.S. and Mexican border groups and academics.
I hope this sends a message to everyone who attempts to cross the border illegally.

If you try it, you'll die.

You better do it the legal way.

Let this be a lesson.

Terror Attack Imminent

by Dave
7/11/2007 11:37:00 AM

I got one of those e-mails warning that Homeland Security boss Chertoff is worried about terror attacks as soon as this summer.   Those attacks may be made using, gasp, dirty bombs - ie. radioactive waste material.   Essentially, the message was a snippet of news which then went on to suggest I put together my emergency kit right now.   That's not bad advice but the object of the message was to alarm me and get me to realize that I better have a portable radio that runs on battery power around the house.   The message worked.   I decided I better run out to Radioshack or some such and purchase a battery powered radio.   Then I realized I already did have one.   It's in my car!

Somehow we have to start taking the terror threat more seriously but this stuff does not help.

GE's Gore Gift

by Dave

An editorial in Investor's Business Daily pointed out what should be obvious to everyone. nbsp; NBC's airing of Gore's epic rockumentary was a political donation.   And somebody forgot to stuff this donation into the fairness doctrine packet the media received.

Loud Earth

by Dave
7/09/2007 09:16:00 AM

Did you realize the political commercial turned rock concert, Live Earth, occurred this past weekend?   Did you catch any of it?   No, I didn't either.   Pretty stupid stuff, wasn't it?   Turnout for the shows wasn't quite what had been expected or advertised.   There were less than 3,000 people at the Asian show.   You know Asia, that's the place where about half the Earth's population live and home to the country, China, which now allegedly pumps the largest amount of the allegedly evil carbon into the atmosphere.   2,700 was the number who showed up, I think.   That's not bad.   It's PATHETIC!

At Giants Stadium, itself an environmental catastrophe for the natural carbon sink located in the swamps of Jersey, there were 52,000 fans in attendance.   Not for nothin' but I went to see Foghat there many moons ago when there were more people there, actually about double.   OK so Rick Derringer, Ted Nugent and Aerosmith played too.   But the Meadowlands generally doesn't hold any concerts which don't guarantee a better draw than Loud Earth had.   They stick such weak draws into Continetal Arena.   That's where acts like "Barney" and the Wiggles end up doing a few dates because they only have 100,000 people interested.   Heck the circus does better than Loud Aid did in the most densely populated place on Earth.   No place has as many enviro-whackoes and all out lefties as New Jersey does.   But they were only able to draw fewer people than on average attend each of the Yankees 81 homes games, across the river, each year.   That's not even pathetic!

On the web, MSN bragged that it had delivered 10 million streams.   That would include all the people who clicked, watched for 5 seconds or failed to get a good stream and left.   10 million streams?   On the Internet?   What's the potential audience?   Maybe 2 billion?   That's a big fat flop if ever there was one.   10 million?   Less than a half percent of the world's population cared to even click for the event of the century, event of the millenium.

When all the numbers are in, I believe we'll see that this "event" caused the greatest amount of "greenhouse gases" to be pumped into the air of any event ever staged on Earth, including some years-lasting wars!   That's because, with modern technology, these numerous "artists" took private planes, some to travel half the distance around the planet, to the venues and thereby pumped more gases into the atmosphere than any previous recorded event.

But that's OK.   They had good intentions, really good intentions.   They asked the world to commit to forging a treaty aimed at a 90% cut in carbon emissions.   90% cut?   Heck, the world has not been able to come up with a treaty to hold emissions steady, let alone actually cut them.   A 90% cut would mean everyone would have to move south to places where maybe global warming hasn't yet been tamed, like the equator, so they could avoid freezing to death.   Most of the signatories to Kyoto have succeeded only in increasing their emissions by a reasonable percentage.   Not that any of this matters but the effort was abysmal.

Today we are left with a concert having taken place which nobody was interested in unless their favorite band was playing and only to the extent it was.   Nobody was interested in this thing from a knowledge expansion point of view.   That shouldn't surprise anyone since the thing was supposed to promote ideas which dominate, absolutely DOMINATE, most mainstream media outlets throughout the world.   If anyone is not familiar with Al Gore's point of view, where the hell have they been?   What do they do with their time?   Do they have indoor plumbing or electricity?   Do they not own lightbulbs or TVs?

Al Gore is probably the only winner in all this.   To the extent there were any profits from the concert series, his private BUSINESS venture, Alliance for Climate Protection, gets them.

I think the whole damn business can be summed up with this simple fact, Spinal Tap (one of history's loudest fake bands!) played!!   Listen to what the flower people say, listen, it's getting louder every day!!!

No More Niggers

by Steve
7/06/2007 11:20:00 PM

Apparently the NAACP will be burying the "N word" next week, presumably meaning that it won't exist anymore...
The N-word burial highlights the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People's 98th annual convention, which kicks off Saturday and runs through Thursday. It's the seventh time the convention has been held in Detroit.
Thank God! Now we can go back to using the word "niggardly" without question.

Inconvenient Memory

by Dave
7/06/2007 08:17:00 AM

The political blog on the New York Times web site discusses Al Gore's response to questions regarding Bush's commutation of LIbby's sentence.   Gore reportedly said of Libby, "He was charged with knowledge that could incriminate his bosses in the White House, which included the vice president and the president."   Ding!   That's factually incorrect.   He was charged with perjury not with having any particular knowledge.   Either Mr. Gore's memory is failing or he is deliberately lying in order to gain politically.   Where is Fitzgerald?   Shouldn't he bring Gore up on charges of perjury?   At the very least, he should haul Al's butt in for questioning.

Six Degrees

by Dave
7/05/2007 04:30:00 PM

Let's see.   Do you smell business opportunity?   Live Earth is running on NBC's stations.   GE owns NBC.   GE produces those funky lightbulbs (CFLs) which the greenies including, or especially, Al Gore and his Live Earth cronies are forcing down our collective throat.   GE makes a nice profit on those bulbs because they produce them not here in the US where a living wage is required by law, but rather in China which is notorious for underpaid workers including very young children, some of whose "employment relationships" are, shall we say, questionable.   GE is a huge proponent of global warming alarmism.   Well they should be since their cash cow, ultra mature, lightbulb business stands to become a growth industry if we all just do those little things like using CFLs to replace their antiquated cousins.   NBC is even cutting back substantially on the number of ads being run during the feel good concerts.   I'd like to see what the internal cost accounting looks like there!   But it really doesn't matter.   The bottom line is, if you are stupid enough to tune into Live Earth, you are going to be force fed a heap of lies including the notion that by throwing away the incandescent lightbulb in favor of the CFL, you'll be saving the planet.   It's rubbish but somebody ought to be able to turn a profit.   There's a new one born every day.   And there are 6 billion plus of them already on the planet.

Unmitigated Gall!

by Dave
7/05/2007 02:41:00 PM

The real crooks ought to be smarter than that.   They ought to have the good sense to keep their mouths shut when it comes to presidential pardons and commutations.   Gore was right when he said the eleventh hour Clinton pardons are not comparable to Bush's recent commutation of Libby's sentence.   On one hand, we have genuine criminals who committed genuine and significant crimes which are at the core of this nation's troubles and at the epicenter of white collar crime, not to mention political corruption.   On the other, we have a man who was convicted of lying to an overzealous prosecutor investigating a crime, concluding that none has been committed but if one has, he has identified the perpetrator, and then obstructing the operation of our nation's executive branch for, as yet, unknown reasons.

Let's move past this nonsense.   But if you dem.s insist on keeping it afloat, we'll be happy to offer up a tit or 20 for every tat.

It's The Doctors!

by Dave
7/04/2007 10:25:00 AM

Britain will reportedly crack down on foreign workers in the national health service.   That's right.   It's about skilled foreigners.   Never mind that all the bombers also happen to be skilled Muslim foreigners.   It's the foreigners who caused the problem, not the Muslims.

The article discussing Britain's new crackdown on "foreigners" also said, "One of the suspects on the list had posted a comment on an Internet chat room condemning cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad published last year in Danish newspapers, The Evening Standard reported, citing unidentified intelligence sources."   I guess all those non-British foreigners didn't care for the cartoons.

I Stand Corrected

by Dave
7/03/2007 11:07:00 PM

I just now saw a more comprehensive exploration of the culprits in the British car bomb plot.   As the AP says, it was a diverse lot.   They weren't run of the mill Muslim terrorists.   They came from a wide list of countries.   That list includes India, Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and "somewhere in the Middle East."   One culprit was believed to be British born.   Not all the names are known to the media but here are some of them: Muhammad Haneef, Mohammed Jamil Asha, Marwa Asha, Bilal Talal Abdul Samad Abdulla, and Khalid Ahmed.

Now there's a diverse group.   It's difficult to find a common thread beyond the fact that they were all part of the socialized medical system of the UK.   Police are going to have a tough time getting to the bottom of the motivating factor on this one.   Maybe it has something to do with these people being capitalists.   Perhaps they were trying to make a statement against socialized medicine.   Aside from that, what else could they possibly have in common?

In case you jumped to some racist bigoted conclusions to answer my challenge, a teacher who knew one of the suspects said although he was Muslim, he didn't think he was particularly religious.   "He is not a fanatic type of person."

Why would a bunch of doctors want to set off car bombs with nails and other anti-personal stuff in them.   They couldn't have been trying to drum up business.   They make the same amount regardless.   Maybe they just wanted to kill some infidels.

The real laugh is we stupid westerners are puzzled by this event.

The Media Eats And Regurgitates ..it

by Dave
7/03/2007 06:55:00 PM

Why do they love this soooo much?   The media creates an entire article, which is repeated over and over again, emphasizing how the new leaders of the UK don't call those who attacked them "Islamic terrorists."   So what?   Is that supposed to be good or accurate?   Who attacked the UK?   Were they just a band of thugs?

Let's get this straight.   There are no media accounts of fundamentalist Christian terrorists who are threatening our very way of life, our freedoms, our institutions.   Why is that?   It's because there does not exist any group of fundamentalist Christians spanning dozens, perhaps hundreds, of countries and thousands (millions?) of armed men bent on destruction of an entire culture.   The same is true of Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, atheists, you name the religion.

There is but one religion on this planet which is engaged in active destruction of everything and anything it can destroy which is not part of its culture.   There is but one religion on this planet which has perhaps millions of people hell-bent on the absolute murder of anyone or anything which does not comport with their religion, way of life and culture.   That religion is Islam.

Let's rehash this.   Islam is the only religion which has a large, active group of its adherents running around the globe, strapping explosives to their bodies, trying to murder everyone with whom they have philosophical differences.   Fundamentalist Islam (is there another kind? Really?) is sponsoring thousands of murderers with an eye towards bringing all western, Christian, Jewish, non-Muslim cultures to their knees.   No other religion or religious offshoot is doing this anywhere on the planet.

The AP actually praises Jacqui Smith, the new Home Secretary, because she "called terrorists 'criminals whose victims come from all walks of life, communities and religious backgrounds.'"   The article goes on to note, "Brown has spoken of 'al-Qaida' attackers but not of 'Islamic' or 'Muslim' terrorists.   Well bully for her.   She refrains from calling them Muslim.   But all terrorists are not al-Qaida.   It will be interesting to hear what she says when Britain is attacked by non-al-Qaida Muslim terrorists.   That will surely happen before much longer.   al-Qaida ain't the only game in town.   Though all terrorists with global reach are most definitely Muslim.

Let's face facts folks.   We are in a heep of trouble if we aren't honest enough with ourselves to admit that the guy pointing the gun at us who just killed four people actually wants to see us dead.   If we honestly think the terorists around the globe could be those nuns over there, that rabbi here, that Hindu priest over there, we are being fundamentally dishonest and we will soon have to turn the other cheek since the cheek not being turned is full of shrapnel including glass and nails from the car bomb fashioned by those freedom fighters seeking their rightful place of prominence, "freedom" for their people, less influence from the people who not only taught them how to pull the crud from the ground but gave them incredible wealth by purchasing the stuff, refining it afterwards, and using it to improve lives including theirs.
