Here's a message to the rioters in France, stop burning your own neighborhoods and move out to the neighborhoods of other people.   I mean that in a tongue-in-cheek sense, well, sort of.   I want to impart some historical information for those of you actively engaged in rioting in France because you want greater economic opportunity.   Here in the United States, we had quite a few riots in the 1960s.   Here black rioters took out their fury against all white people by attacking those who had been their white friends and neighbors, similarly situated in economic terms, and against the very neighborhoods in which they, themselves, lived.   The results were of no benefit to the black community.

I have personal information of the riots which took place in Newark, New Jersey during the 1960s.   That's because my cousins lived there, because I lived close enough to watch the army tanks on their way to establishing order, and in my later years I spent a fair amoutn of time in the city.   My cousins lived in predominantly black neighborhoods by which I mean they were the only white people there.   Their neighbors and friends turned on them, shooting guns at them, throwing rocks through their windows and then basically destroying the entire neighborhood.   After the riots, my cousins salvaged what they could and moved out, as did most other white people, leaving the neighborhoods almost entirely black and entirely blighted.

The damage to neighborhoods took a couple decades to repair and even today there are blighted areas which have never fully recovered.   That is the legacy of the 1960 riots.   I suspect the prognosis for French neighborhoods is worse because while the French like to pretend they are a mixed society with liberty and opportunity for all, Muslims living there know differently.   After things calm down there, by which I mean after the French military establishes order, there is going to be the realization that a huge amount of damage has been done to Muslim neighborhoods.   But the white French people will not care to repair these.   Instead it will be the responsibllity of the Muslim residents to try to put them back together.   And Muslims will not be welcomed in other neighborhoods.   The racism which will keep them pinned down in destroyed neighborhoods will not be overt but Muslims will find themselves strangely unable to move into white areas.   It will be a subtle racism practiced by whites who want to protect their areas.   So, the damage you do now will haunt you for the rest of your lives.

If you rioters want to really make a difference, go out to the white, Christian? neighborhoods and destroy them.
