I have three words of advice for Matt Lauer: get a blog.

I think tom cruise has no idea what he is talking about!

Although the interview was about Tom's next movie, I think Matt was correct in delving into Tom's comments about Brooke Shields post pardom depression medication. If Tom can shoot off his Scientological beliefs on Brooke Shields post pardom depression medication, then Matt Lauer should have the same right to call him out on that.
And just as an offshoot, Tom is an actor. Actors should be well trained in expressing themselves. However, Tom couldn't coherently explain why mood-altering drugs are bad for you. Just because Aderol and Ritalin are abused on the street doesn't mean that they aren't effective and safe in what they do.
Then to call a person glib when they question your beliefs is stupifying. Just explain yourself TOM!!! It's not like Matt was twisting your every word into something you didn't say. The only person in that interview who showed little thought and preparation is TOM CRUISE.

While I certainly cannot defend Tom Cruise, I think you are missing the point here. The interview was not on some sort of news show. It was about the movie but it never got there because Lauer thought he would do some serious journalism. He can't because he is a dope. Instead of entertaining people who tuned into his entertainment show, he acted badly towards a guest.
As for Cruise's comments, I generally do not pay attention to actors' opinions on things. They do not generally have well-thought-out points to make. And when they are being interviewed, they typically do have trouble communicating just like you or I might.
But please do not defend ritalin and other drugs. They are way overused in our society. Any kid who acts like a kid and not like a robot is potentially at risk of being diagnosed as ADD. All of social science tells us that when studying behavior, the normal curve is the rule. That means 95% of people fall into two standard deviations from the mean and are, therefore, considered "normal." The other 5% are at the tails of the distribution. 2.5% hyper and 2.5% completely lethargic. So why are something like 10-15% prescribed ritalin? Because it is easier on the teachers, parents, society to medicate them.

My wife was diagnosed with ADD in her youth, and was prescribed Ritalin. Ritalin does nothing to help a child focus, it simply sedates them so that teachers don't get high blood pressure. As a result, my wife's problems with ADD were "masked over", and she did poorly throughout school.
If your child is on Ritalin, beware!

Tom Cruise is wrong. On July 3, 2005 i lady I once worked with hung herself due to post-partum depression. She just had her child in November and was happily married. She left behind two children. No one saw the signs.
