Is Social Security Privatization Unfair for Women?

Kim Gandy, who is with the National Organization for Women, appeared on the O'Reilly Factor tonight to discuss privatizing Social Security. I can't recall her statements word for word, but I will paraphrase.

She argued that Bush's plan to privatize Social Security is unfair to women, because women don't earn as much money as men, and therefore, will not be allowed to invest as much money as men.

I find these remarks to be totally ironic. Here she is, representing an organization meant to help women achieve equality with men on all fronts including wages. And yet, they oppose privatizing Social Security because they don't make as much money as men.

So, why don't they instead work on their wages, instead of building crutches?

Ok, the reality is that the average woman does in fact earn a lower wage than the average man. But is this a reason to create crutches? Is that the solution NOW has to offer?

If that's their solution for creating equality, then why doesn't NOW just have women stay home and make babies and then lobby the government into taxing worker's even higher?
