Talk about the fox guarding the hen-house!
I suppose their crime isn't so much about invading privacy. But can you imagine a TV maker placing something comparable on their sets? The TV could sense when their was a commercial and replace it with one of their own. Then they could sell this highly targeted advertising to all sorts of interests. A budweiser commercial broadcast by ABC during a sporting event could be replaced by the SONY TV with a MIller Lite ad. How long do you think that one would last? Why are these guys allowed to even exist, let alone join a federal advisory board on privacy?

Every so often I read an article that says in the future, television and the Internet will merge together into an interactive form of television.
Perhaps the televisions of the future will be more like the Windows Media Player of today, where you can order up television programming on demand, play video games, record anything you want, and do your shopping.
Imagine what Adware and Spyware could do with this. If you have a habit of watching pornos on television, a piece of Adware could have porno commercials display on regular network programming, when your in-laws come over to visit.
