"I worry that some people are entertained by the idea of this war. They don't know anything about the Iraqis, but they're angry and frustrated in their own lives. It's like Germany, before Hitler took over. The economy was bad and people felt kicked around. They looked for a scapegoat. Now we've got a new bunch of Hitlers."
What I want to know is how people who pride themselves on their intellectual prowess (many artists have inflated views of their intelligence) can be so ignorant of history. If you're going to draw parallels between Hitler and Bush, do a little research. The truth is Ronstadt and those who espouse this, haven't cracked a history book since 6th grade.
They don't know what they are talking about so they really should just .... SHUT UP!

actually, Mr. Shut Up, Linda Ronstadt does make a historical comparison that is worthy of consideration. Granted, that Adolph Hitler killed millions of people which george w. bush hasn't done, but his rise to power was similar to Hitler's-- thats all Linda's saying---in that he deceived the common people into thinking he was looking out for them- when in actuality he was looking out entirely for his own, as well as corporate interests. Dwight D. Eisenhower made warnings and specific references to such potential power abuses in the white house in his farewell address--so you, Mr. Shut Up, need to read your history books. George W. Bush don't give a 1/2 crap about his people--and neither did Hitler-- his crafty rhetoric carefuly disguised his selfish ambitions under the guise of 'for the people'--its all a bunch of BS.
Read "Rise and Fall of the Third Reich", and I think you will be stunned at the likenesses, more than the differences.

A little slow on the draw aren't you Mr. er .... anonymous. I have read "Rise and Fall of the Third Reich" as well as several dozen other books on Hitler and there is absolutely NO COMPARISON to be made. Bush's election bares no resemblance to Hitler's rise. And what he has done in office can in no way be said to be an abuse of power. I don't know where you guys come off saying this stuff.
If you knew anything about Hitler, you would know that he did care deeply about the German people. I doubt there is a single historian who would make the claim he didn't. But there is no doubt that he was completely evil. Not only that, he was delusional. He was fed on a constant diet of organic nationalism and he acted on this perverse philosophy.
Bush on the other hand is simply one of a growing number (already a majority) of Americans who have witnessed the idiocy of the liberal political philosophy for far too long. Many of us out here in the "automaton conservative movement" feel similarly. And we are now ready to throw off the welfare state as well as the moronic world view of Clintonites. We do not think that lobbing a couple million dollar missiles into the desert is a way to curtail international terrorism. Nor do we think placating the French and Germans serves our nation. Obviously they act purely in their own economic self-interest while expecting us not to. Is that what you think we ought to do?
You're just sore because you are losing sway over the American people. You are desperately seeking leaders in whatever form they take. You support the stupid performers because they are the only ones not completely devoted to politics who mouth the same mantra you do. The real people finally recognize that most of these performers represent the kid in the back of poli-sci or history class who couldn't name the current president or any actual event of history because they were too busy penning poems or engaging in other trivial pursuits.
I suggest you read anything, absolutely anything because obviously your brain has atrophed to the point of near irredemption.
Notice, I never asked YOU to shut up. Please speak. You make our case for us with every breath.

My dear Dave,
